Need help exporting data from mySQL to Access 2007

I’m trying to figure out how to get data from a mySQL database located on a web server into an MS Access 2007 database on a desktop computer.
I am the furthest thing from a web developer or a database guru. I understand HTML very well, I have some decent experience with MS Access, and I’m starting to understand a little tiny bit about SQL. PHP is Greek to me. My current idea is for the data to move like this:

[mySQL on server] → [XML on server] → [MS Access 2007 on desktop PC]

Am I going in the right direction? If so, how do I do step one?

I use SQL a lot but not MySQL, so I’m not sure how to do step 1 but have you tried:
    # mysqldump -u username -p password database_name > FILE.sql
Replace username, password and database_name with your MySQL username, password and database name.
File FILE.sql now holds a backup of your database, download it to your computer.
