The Democratic National Committee is trying to get the FEC to stomp on Sinclair Broadcasting because the company plans to broadcast the documentary Stolen Honor, which highlights John Kerry's activities after he left Vietnam and joined the anti-American "peace" movement. The Democrats won't try to refute it, because they can't. I own two copies, and I'm impressed by Stolen Honor's powerful message of truth.

The problem for you guys is that the picture doesn't commemmorate John Kerry as a communist hero; it commemmorates his visit with Vietnamese leaders in order to ascertain the status of POW's purported to still be in Vietnam.
As such it's not a celebration of anything Kerry did that might be construed as "helping Vietnam win" - our own military incompetence did that - but rather, a commendation for Kerry's actions which helped normalize relations between our countries decades after the war, which allowed Vietnam to return to the community of nations.
And I'd say that's worth commending, if you value freedom. Our relationship with Vietnam, like our relationship with China, means their citizens are exposed to our culture and our views of democracy. Kerry didn't help Vietnam win the war. Kerry helped the US win the peace.
Chet, look at the context. Look at the photographs and memorabilia surrounding the Kerry photograph. It's part of a collection commemorating the help received by foreigners in defeating America. The message is clear to anyone with a shred of intellectual honesty.

I did look at them, and unfortunately, I don't see anything that supports your assertion.
The photograph is of Kerry meeting the leaders of Vietnam in the 90's, not of anything he did in the 60's or 70's. He was there to find American POW's, if any. Since he discovered there weren't any, we resumed diplomatic courtesies with Vietnam, at great benefit to the cause of freedom and democracy in that nation.
Why shouldn't he be proud of that? Why shouldn't we? Why shouldn't they?
